New Series of Rugged Arm-Mounting TFT Monitors

19.0" & 21.3" models are Marine Approved but will also find markets in the harsh environments of the Industrial & Military (COTS) sectors.

KME has introduced two new colour LCD TFT monitors for worldwide marine applications where low EMI and long-term vibration resilience are essential criteria. Both have been certified by an independent Test House and meet the stringent demands of IEC 60945, the International standard for maritime electronics systems. The 19.0" and 21.3" monitors have been designed for Arm/Pedestal mounting in Bridge Control rooms. They are ruggedly constructed in painted metal and resemble stylish desktop PC monitors.

The front panel controls have been kept to a minimum with power and brightness the only operator controls available. As a result of KME’s in-house design of the Backlight Inverter and in common with other KME Marine monitors, the brightness can be dimmed smoothly to very low levels (greater than 2000:1 max. to min. brightness ratios). An automatic dimming function is selectable such that the display dims itself according to decreasing ambient light levels. This is of great importance on the Bridge of ships at night.

The two monitors are of similar style but have different resolutions. The 21.3" monitor has the higher resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels (UXGA) with overall dimensions of 508 x 420 x 84 mm. The 19.0" is lower cost and is limited to 1280 x 1024 pixels. (SXGA) with overall dimensions of 453 x 397 x 84 mm. Both have Anti-Reflective, Contrast Enhancing toughened safety glass fitted and operate from 90-265Vac mains supplies. PAL/NTSC capability is included as standard in addition to the Data inputs and Resistive or Capacitive Touchscreen fitment in place of the safety glass is easily achieved as an option.Standard VESA fixings at the rear of the monitor enable Ergo Arm mounting.

KME has also designed an accessory plate to allow for panel mounting requirements. Both monitors have Video Buffering for best video quality when “daisy-chaining” the displays. RS232C control of the monitor set up functions is also standard, making them suitable for ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display) installations.EN60945 tests subject the monitors to extremes of temperature and vibrations. Both monitors are certified for operation at minus 15º Celsius and vibrations of 0.7g up to 100Hz.

All KME LCD monitors are manufactured at their UK facility in Rochester, Kent.
